Flames engulfed the pantry car and an adjacent coach of the train when it neared Gollaprolu in East Godavari district
A major fire was averted in Yesvantpur-Tatanagar Express train at Gollaprolu in East Godavari district in the early hours of Tuesday with a few alerted commuters pulling the chain and stopping the train. However, no casualties were reported. Flames engulfed the pantry car and an adjacent coach too was partially damaged. Fire tenders from Gollaprolu pressed into service and put out the fire.
A few commuters spotted flames engulfing the pantry car in the early hours of the day and pulled the chain to alert the railway personnel. The express train came to a halt on the track near Gollaprolu and the commuters of the coaches abutting the pantry car got down from the train. After an hour-long exercise, the fire personnel put out the flames.
Authorities are yet to ascertain the cause of fire.
