Updates from : the Hindu : What is LTCG? LTCG or long-term capital gains refer to the gains made on any class of asset held for a particular period of time. In case of equity shares, it refers to the gains made on stocks held for more than one year. In other words, if the shares are bought and held for more than a year before selling, then the gains, if any, on the said sale are referred to as long term capital gains or LTCG. Why is LTCG tax in the news? It is in the news as Finance Minister Arun Jaitley re-introduced LTCG tax on equity shares. Updates from : the Hindu : An 18-year-old athlete succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday after he was recused from his hostel room in the athletics academy at Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Tuesday. Police said that Police Control Room (PCR) received a call on Tuesday at 6.30 p.m. about a man who is believed to have hanged himself inside his hostel room in the stadium. Police rushed to the spot and the man was taken to Safdurjung Hospital in a critical condition. He succumbed to his serious injuries on Wednesday morning. The deceased has been identified as Parvinder Chaudhary, a sprinter. He was a native of Aligarh district in Uttar Pradesh. The family has been informed about the incident.
